Dimitris Koufodinas

Dear friends, activists, supporters of political prisoners…

We ask you urgently to take action to protect the life of the Greek political prisoner Dimitris Koufontina and to stand up for his demands.
The Greek government under Mitsotakis is on the verge of murdering the prisoner. Numerous actions are taking place against this attack on the rights and life of Dimitris. But still, it is necessary to fight and put pressure with all means to prevent this political and in fact his physical murder.
In this little letter there is a lot of information, but we can also send you a statement from his lawyer, from which it is clear in more detail what this is about. In any case, it is within the law that he be returned to Korydallos, not the other way around. And despite his isolation in Korydallos in the basement, he is demanding that he be returned to his old prison.

Time is very short now. Please just forward the letter below to the Ministry of Justice and Embassy in your country. Addresses of authorities are included and maybe you will send the appropriate embassy addresses to people in other countries right away so they will follow our example.

Thanks

Dear Sirs, Dear Madams

With a great concern and anger, I have learned about the serious violation of law and human rights in the case of the Greek prisoner Dimitris Koufontina.

I’m aware about the situation, since I have received a document of his lawyer, which enlightens the fact that the laws are violated while transfering the prisoner to Domokos Prison.

Already 2 weeks ago, the hunger striker Dimitris Koufontina was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital of Lamia.
Having completed over 50 days of hunger strike, apart from his health, Koufontina’s life is under serious threat at any moment.

In several countries protests are being held to warn the authorities in Greece to stop the killing of the prisoner.

It is absolutely clear that -whatever is the reason or justification for his imprisonment- laws are severely violated and a person is being killed on purpose in the hands of the state, with the sole demand to have recognized his legal right to return to Korydallos prison.

Therefore, I strongly protest this attitude which has so far already caused strong damage to his health and I urge the Greek government to immediately stop this political hardline, which will openly result in the death of Koufontinas!

I will follow up the situation and continue to demand the application of national, international laws and human rights.

yours sincerely,
